What this tool does

Screens the water-flow effect of staging while keeping the assumed dilution ratio explicit.

When to use it

Use after measuring drag-out and defining a process-specific rinse criterion with qualified process staff.

Inputs and supported units

Each labelled field explains the quantity it expects. Unit-system changes convert existing numeric entries once and keep calculations on a single SI internal basis. Supported shared units include L/min and GPM, metres and feet, kPa and psi, millimetres and inches, kW and hp, and °C and °F as relevant.

How to interpret the result

Read the primary result with the supporting breakdown and warning. A plausible number is not evidence that every input, operating case or design constraint has been included.

Worked example

At 1 L/h drag-out and a 1,000:1 ratio, two ideal stages screen at about 63.2 L/h versus 1,000 L/h for one stage.

Assumptions

Representative production, matched meter and load boundaries, user-entered process targets and tariffs, and stable conditions during each comparison.

Limitations

No bath chemistry, final rinse acceptance, discharge limit, treatment package, permit condition or worker exposure control is selected or approved.

Safety and review boundary. Metal-finishing solutions and wastewater may be corrosive, toxic or regulated. Follow SDS, PPE, ventilation, spill, wastewater, electrical and local authority requirements; use qualified industrial review.
