What this tool does

Relates flow to actual filter area and compares only against user-entered media or manufacturer limits.

When to use it

Use after identifying the exact vessel and media; include filter pressure loss in the connected pump duty review.

Inputs and supported units

Each labelled field explains the quantity it expects. Unit-system changes convert existing numeric entries once and keep calculations on a single SI internal basis. Supported shared units include L/min and GPM, metres and feet, kPa and psi, millimetres and inches, kW and hp, and °C and °F as relevant.

Calculation or decision method

Circular area = πd²/4; loading rate = total flow / total filter area

How to interpret the result

Read the primary result with the supporting breakdown and warning. A plausible number is not evidence that every input, operating case or design constraint has been included.

Worked example

Two 1 m diameter vessels provide 1.571 m² total area. At 100 L/min, service loading is about 63.66 L/min/m² and flow per vessel is 50 L/min.

Assumptions

The entered water test, flow, product concentration and manufacturer values represent the same source, use and operating condition.

Limitations

The result is a transparent preliminary calculation or decision screen. It does not establish contaminant removal, potable safety, product certification, regulatory compliance or an approved treatment design.

Safety and review boundary. Test water through an appropriate accredited laboratory, follow current product labels and SDS, verify certified contaminant-reduction claims in an official listing, and obtain local public-health or qualified design review where required.
