What this tool does

Performs dose arithmetic only after the user has obtained the target dose and product basis from an applicable authority, product label or qualified design.

When to use it

Use only when the water volume, existing residual, target dose, available chlorine concentration and—when required—solution density are known.

Inputs and supported units

Each labelled field explains the quantity it expects. Unit-system changes convert existing numeric entries once and keep calculations on a single SI internal basis. Supported shared units include L/min and GPM, metres and feet, kPa and psi, millimetres and inches, kW and hp, and °C and °F as relevant.

Calculation or decision method

Net dose = max(0, target − existing); active mass = net dose × water volume
Solution volume = required active mass / active chlorine concentration

How to interpret the result

Read the primary result with the supporting breakdown and warning. A plausible number is not evidence that every input, operating case or design constraint has been included.

Worked example

For 10,000 L, a user-entered target of 2 mg/L, existing 0.2 mg/L, 10% w/w product and density 1.1 kg/L, active mass is 18 g and solution volume is about 0.164 L.

Assumptions

The entered water test, flow, product concentration and manufacturer values represent the same source, use and operating condition.

Limitations

The result is a transparent preliminary calculation or decision screen. It does not establish contaminant removal, potable safety, product certification, regulatory compliance or an approved treatment design.

Safety and review boundary. Test water through an appropriate accredited laboratory, follow current product labels and SDS, verify certified contaminant-reduction claims in an official listing, and obtain local public-health or qualified design review where required.
